First Visit to Mamont

My family came to visit in early April and we went to Maymont Park. It was a wonderful time even though it was a bit cool. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and it was not crowded at all. (We went on the same day as the Monument 10K which is a HUGE race in downtown Richmond.) This park is a large park in the heart of the city with gardens, ponds, a mansion to tour, petting zoo area, and many other animals and fun things to enjoy.

Snack time for Davis

Dad getting ahead of us in the gardens

Aunt Stacey pointing out all the large choi.

Enjoying the view with Grammy Stickley.

Getting ready to walk through the bamboo paths.

The Black Bear- He was laying right in front of us (okay so there was a wall to separate us) but we just didn't expect to see this at the park.

Playing on the sculpture bear with Pappy

Bald eagle

Owls- they were neat to watch as their head completely rotated around

The pacing fox. He just dept roaming and roaming around the same path.

Aunt Aimee and Aunt Stacey

Davis asking them to pick him up so he did not have to walk up the hill by himself.

The farm

Goats

Tired sheep- Actually we think this sheep was sick because the farm helpers later had to go in the pen to get him out.

Feeding the goats and rams

Big ole pott bellied pig. His teeth were sticking out and he was breathing so loudly.

VCU signs hanging in the farm area. This was during March Madness when VCU was winning.

Davis feeding the goats.

Roosters- You should have heard Stacey imitating them. Oh if I had this on video!

It was super fun to watch Davis feed the animals. It was excited for sure.

Some of the animals were pigs and would push others out of the way.

Views at the park

Ok so we wore him out at the Park. We loved the park and had such a great time we took Chris's parents when they came down 2 weekends later. We got to see the otters when they came and that was very cool. This is one of our favorite spots in Richmond so far.
